Why Independent Data Still Matters

In a world where every coop and corporate owned precision ag company now does soil sampling, Rx creation, and more, it can be easy to say just let them do it.

When is the last time you looked closely at that report from the coop or did you even see it? Did they make a recommendation for fertilizer, seed, and chemical and your farm operation said yes to all of it?

The big companies probably threw in some very nice things like weather stations if you went with their soil sampling package, but did they truly have your best interests in mind or even enough people to service your farm operation?

I can’t help but be concerned about data privacy when I think about how many weather stations I’ve seen pop up. With dicamba drift a real issue, it is easy for those companies to pull the information from the day and time someone applied off of “your” weather station.

Now more than ever, there is a need for independent data. A trusted source for soil sampling, Rx creation, and data management. Someone who can truly be your eyes in the sky and boots on the ground year round.

Here at Hewitt Precision Insights, we love meeting one-on-one with our clients, to learn about their goals and what management practices best suit their operation. We don’t offer a one size fits all product, because we know each farm operation is unique. We tailor our services to fit your farm operation’s goals.

We work with you to look historically at your data and to truly utilize the data that you already have to make better decisions. Little decisions can mean big impact to your bottom line. It might mean switching from grid sampling to zone sampling or using less fertilizer in certain areas of your field while increasing it in others. It may mean taking a deeper look at the seed variety you planted and how row width impacted your yield. Maybe it means taking out your yield maps and creating historical averages for each individual field so we can create a plan moving forward to increase your yield. Decisions can be hidden in the data, and we can help extract that.

At the end of the day, we want your data to matter to you and to work for your farm operation.
